Health Education Jersey City Residents
Life’s Next Chapter Foundation, Inc. is a group of people who work within the community to achieve wellness through education, support, and interventional programs.
Life’s Next Chapter creates community-based programs that encourage health wellness and awareness on a broad range of topics: chronic diseases, injury prevention, violence, mental/behavioral health, substance abuse, nutrition, physical activity, and many more.
These outreach programs are conducted in schools, worksites, health care facilities, and community venues. The fundamental mission of this organization is to help families feel safe and stay healthy through health education and health lifestyle promotion.
HealthierJC + Life’s Next Chapter
For Life’s Next Chapter, building a Culture of Health means providing everyone in the community a path to health and wellness, and ensuring equitable access to the health resources available to them. The organization actively works toward building a greater Culture of Health in Jersey City through their own health programming, and providing trainers for Mental Health First Aid workshops conducted in partnership with the Jersey City Department of Health and Human Services.
Life’s Next Chapter programs closely align with the HealthierJC mission to expand access to quality health education, promote fellowship, and build healthy homes in the community. In awarding the mini-grant, HealthierJC acknowledged the commitment of Life’s Next Chapter to advancing a Culture of Health in Jersey City.
The LNCF Health Education and Promotion Event
Pre-covid, thanks to the HealthierJC mini-grant, Life’s Next Chapter Foundation (LNCF) was able to host the 2nd Annual LNCF Health Education and Promotion Event during the Mental Health Summit at New Jersey City University (NJCU).
The main purpose of this event was to promote mental health awareness, and introduce ways to enhance and promote individual well-being.
Life’s Next Chapter team members and Licensed Mental Health Counselors spoke on a range of topics stressing the importance of physical exercise, mental health education, supportive family and friends, and seeking professional intervention.
Both NJCU students and community residents attended the Life’s Next Chapter event. These people shared inspiring stories about their personal struggles and the challenges faced by those who suffer from mental health problems. Throughout the day, selected Life’s Next Chapter sessions were videotaped for live streaming and edited for replay to a broader community audience: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1IVgMCcsWU
In addition, the Life’s Next Chapter roster at the NJCU Mental Health Summit included an impressive group of city organizations and mental health professionals. These included: HealthierJC, the NJCU Health Science Student Organization (HSSO), the Office of Mayor Steven Fulop, Dr. Erin O’Neill, Dr. Liliam Rosado, Dr. Lisa Blanchfield, Dr. Azza Ezzat, the Kalye Solutions social media agency, Rene Marie Stroke of Luck TV, co-emcees Jonathan Capistrano, and Amirah Allaahh, and the event sponsor – WellCare.
The collective work of all these contributors resulted in a successful mental health community event, intent on being a catalyst for constructive and compassionate change.
Moving Forward…
Life’s Next Chapter plans to continue their work to address and advocate for Mental Health Awareness, and Alzheimer’s Dementia Education.
Life’s Next Chapter looks forward to future collaborations with HealthierJC to improve quality of life and mental wellness for Jersey City residents. As Jersey City gradually rebounds from the pandemic, helping communities and families feel safe, healthy, empowered and supported is more important than ever.
