Drawing exercises will bring an emphasis on building strong observation skills and mindful recording of facts and feelings while creating beautiful organic illustrations. We encourage students to explore their surrounding environments and to use art materials as a recording modality. Ages: 7 years old and up accompanied with an adult. Children under 7 are welcomed, however assistance from a parent or adult is required. This is not a child drop-off event. OBJECTIVE Learn about: line drawing, patterns in nature, plant identification, and about artists and naturalists past and present. MATERIALS PROVIDED Each registered participant will receive individual art supplies to take home after the event including a journal and coloring supplies. Free while supplies last. Participants are welcomed to BYOA “Bring Your Own Art” Supplies. After the Nature walking tour, we encourage participants to explore the Liberty State Park Nature Center exhibits that are themed around the nature of the Hudson River Estuary or visit the Discovery Room, which has kid-friendly interactive activities. + Family Event + Free + Art + Nature Journaling + Green Classroom + PARKnerships +Mindful Meditation +Nature Walk Please arrive 15 minutes in advance to check in. Open year-round the center features exhibits focusing on the natural history and ecology of the Hudson River Estuary and offers programs for schools, community groups and the general public. The center also offers a variety of professional development workshops for formal and non-formal educators.
